Week 2 Response #1

Hi Aynsley,

I too have learned a lot from our current PBL assignment focusing on the oppositions veteran teachers may have on the implementation of technology into their classrooms. The literature points to the fact that teachers require PD and extra time to gain access to technology if they want to learn how to integrate it to the curriculum. Many schools do not offer such an opportunity. If a teacher wants to learn they must do so on their own time.

It makes me happy that in your school the admin has given teachers the opportunity to learn from one another during your one hour mandatory PD session. Collaboration is huge and why not learn from the sources readily available to you? I also think it's great that you have weekly sessions! At the YRDSB we have one hour sessions once a month and many teachers think it is a hassle to attend. I on the other hand, value this opportunity and wish it was more frequent as you have described happens in your school!

I wonder if there is a significant difference you notice between your current school and the ones you worked for here in Canada due to the weekly PD sessions? I would love to hear your thoughts!
